Vehicle Burglaries Reported, Early 16 Oct

Two residents suffered vehicle burglaries: One on Brent Cove, the other on Ferris Creek, possibly around 2 am, 16 Oct. Entry to at least one vehicle was gained by breaking a window. Some property was recovered in the easement near the community center.

Blue Armor is directed to step-up patrol overnight, 16 - 17 Oct.

COP will be on patrol as scheduled Friday and Saturday nights in addition to Blue Armor patrols.

SAPD is investigating.

The best way to protect your property is to keep your car in your secured garage, or remove valuables from your vehicle.

Please pass this information to your friends and neighbors. You may post a comment here if you are aware other incidents.

Would it be possible to get the make of the cars? Is there a pattern of what type of vehicles they're after. What exactly are they taking (meaning which items of interests are these thieves taking?).

We should maybe encourage everyone to keep their outside lights on for a little while.

Good questions.

In the past the common thread isn't so much the make of vehicle, but what the perpetrator perceives is something of value left in plain sight. Unfortunately for victims, the burglar doesn't know if the item is of value until the window is smashed and the item removed. Items of low resale value are discarded nearby.

In previous FSR vehicle burglaries, thieves stole GPS systems, a camera, DVD/CDs and a laptop computer.

And you're right...lights on is a good idea. Cellular on Patrol participants can attest to how much porch/coach lights brighten a block.
