March 2008 Committee Report

New Private Security Contractor Selected
Blue Armor Security Services, Inc. was selected to take over Finesilver Ranch private security patrol duties beginning 16 April. A safety committee working group interviewed representatives from Smith Security and Blue Armor and evaluated the performance of Guardian Security, our current provider, to determine options for upgrading private security patrol services for FSR.

After close consideration, Blue Armor presented the winning bid by offering the most comprehensive services at an affordable cost. Starting 16 April, Blue Armor will respond to residents' security and safety calls for service, enforce traffic and safety related covenants, and provide proactive crime prevention, such as neighborhood speaking engagements, monthly crime prevention tips, and on-the-spot notification of open garage doors and other property vulnerabilities.

Please welcome Blue Armor officers as you see them patrol the neighborhood. Residents may call 829-7202 for specific neighborhood security concerns. Of course, always dial 911 for emergencies, and, for routine police reports, call SAPD, 207-7273.

Community Center Vandalized
A resident reported the Community Center window screens were torn from their frames some time Friday night, 28 March. The screens were bent and thrown into bushes nearby. SAPD will be notified and the screens replaced as soon as possible.

Please contact Association Management Services (829-7202) or notify a safety committee representative if you have information regarding this incident.

SAPD Helicopter Orbits FSR, Burglary Suspect Apprehended
SAPD officers apprehended a vehicle burglary suspect early Thursday morning, 20 March, assisted by the department's "Eagle" helicopter.

Responding to a vehicle burglary in progress in the neighboring Stonefield subdivision, the Eagle conducted a search pattern over the green space between FSR and Stonefield. According to police, the 18 YOA male suspect was apprehended around 5:30 for a vehicle burlarized on Shadystone in Stonefield.

Vehicle Burglary Follow-up
Last month's committee report noted a vehicle burglary during 5 February on Ferris Branch. Follow-up reporting indicates this was an attempted burglary occurring between 20 January and 5 February. Though the burglary was aborted for unknown reasons, the victim estimated $1000 damage to the dashboard and the stereo.

Gate Malfunctions
The Safety Committee endeavors to notify the AMS Gate Division as soon as a malfunction is observed. Residents are encouraged to report problems to AMS as well. Call 829-7202 or report the problem via the Web: http://ams04.homestead.com/gates.html

Guardian Patrol Summary
Guardian Security officers responded to a barking dog complaint and noted two open garage doors during March.

SAPD Responses
Officers responded to a total of 17 incidents in FSR during March 2008, just above the average of 15 calls per month during 2007. There were 11 SAPD responses this month last year.

* ”UNK” often indicates a formal report was not made.

An unusual number of vehicle accidents were reported. Please drive safely, courteously, and defensively. In particular, drivers entering the neighborhood using the right-hand entry gate, then turning left onto Atwell Park, must yield to vehicles proceeding through the left-hand entry gate. Residents may report unsafe drivers to a safety committee representative or AMS
(829-7202).

There were two SAPD responses to the Greenbriar subdivision at Braun and Lockspring (near Nichols ES): a burglar alarm and a call related to "narcotic laws." Greenbriar, though much smaller than Finesilver Ranch (approximately 70 homes to FSR's 392 homes) is the closest gated community and, presumably, has similar demographics for crime reporting comparison purposes.

Sexual Predator Monitoring
As of this post, no sexual predators live in FSR, according to the Texas DPS website: https://records.txdps.state.tx.us/DPS_WEB/Sor/index.aspx.

SAFD Responses
Engine 49 made an automatic alarm on Chapelwood, the only response to FSR during March.

Further incident details are normally available upon official request to the responsible agencies. Please call Association Management Services (829-7202) or contact a safety committee representative for more information.
