Finesilver Ranch's Halloween trick-or-treating hours will be Friday, 31 October, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Typical of previous years, the gates will remain open during these hours to allow visitors from neighboring communities, apartment dwelling children in particular.
Members of the FSR Cellular on Patrol will man the gate to hand-out welcome fliers and to discourage parents from leaving visiting children in the neighborhood unattended. The flier also notes the treating hours, encourages parking on Finesilver Dr. only, and recommends visits to only those homes having a porch light on. Residents, please abide by these same guidelines.
In addition to manning the gates, COP members are scheduled to patrol during and after festivities to dissuade abusive "tricking."

Two residents suffered vehicle burglaries: One on Brent Cove, the other on Ferris Creek, possibly around 2 am, 16 Oct. Entry to at least one vehicle was gained by breaking a window. Some property was recovered in the easement near the community center.
Blue Armor is directed to step-up patrol overnight, 16 - 17 Oct.
COP will be on patrol as scheduled Friday and Saturday nights in addition to Blue Armor patrols.
SAPD is investigating.
The best way to protect your property is to keep your car in your secured garage, or remove valuables from your vehicle.

September 2008 Safety Committee Report
Cellular on Patrol Volunteers "On Watch"
Five FSR residents are newly certified with the San Antonio PD Cellular on Patrol (COP) upon completing eight hours training, 27 September. The recent graduates also participated in the SAPD ride along program to gain first-hand appreciation for the challenges facing peace officers.
Beginning October, periodic COP patrols will complement Blue Armor Security as both combine to assist SAPD in discouraging criminal activity. Patrols aim to provide a visible crime deterrence and will report suspicious activity to police.
The next COP training opportunity is 13 and 20 November at the SAPD Prue Rd Substation, 5020 Prue Rd., presented over two 4-hour sessions, 6:00 - 10:00 pm. Any San Antonio resident may attend. Refresher training for those already certified is scheduled in one 4-hour session, 18 October, 8:00 - noon.
If you are interested in COP and have not been contacted by an FSR Safety Committee representative, please call Association Management Services, 829-7202.

Blue Armor Patrol Summary
Blue Armor was directed to focus on stop sign enforcement along Finesilver Dr. The emphasis stems from resident complaints received during, and since, September's annual HOA meeting.
Acting on this direction beginning 15 September and through 30 September, patrols reported a total of eight stop sign and speed violations. Speeds were measured from 20 to 37 MPH on Finesilver Dr. The maximum speed on Finesilver Dr is 25 MPH.
Association Management Services mailed notices to the registered owners of the vehicles observed violating traffic related covenants. Officers report most drivers are obeying stop signs when a marked patrol car is present.
Traffic safety patrol emphasis will continue through October. The Safety Committee may request an unmarked Blue Armor patrol to periodically assess the effectiveness of the focused enforcement.
SAPD Responses
SAPD made 11 calls for service to FSR during September. The typical call volume averages 15 per month overall, and police responded to 14 calls during September last year.
This past month, police responded to two accidental burglar alarms, one disturbance, and two unrelated suspicious person calls -- one on Sweetwood, another in the Brentridge / Cove Creek vicinity. Police also took a vehicle burglary report which occurred on Mainland Rd, two unspecified theft reports, and answered two "miscellaneous" calls. An unspecified traffic violation was also reported.
The Greenbriar neighborhood near Nichols ES recorded three SAPD responses: An accidental burglar alarm, a disturbance, and a drunk party at Braun Rd and Lockspring.
Greenbriar, though much smaller than Finesilver Ranch (approximately 70 homes to FSR's 392 homes) is the closest gated community and, presumably, has similar demographics for crime reporting comparison purposes.
SAFD Responses
Firefighters made two residential alarms during September.
